Pink Shell–Birthday Drama

It is the first time ever for me to have a birthday party. A unique experience to be sure. Although I should admit that I still can’t remember the names of everyone who attended…

Mum called me to say that I should buy a cake and treat my friends well, so I took my leftover dumplings from the freezer (finally!) and bought a very nice fruit cake for 30.5 pounds… The old lday who work here in the ILSC bought me a chocolate cake for present, as a result I had two cakes!

I took the cake to the student lounge, which was very nice and cozy. 7 people came to the little party, each with a “happy birthday” in their own languages. I could not remember any of them, and it was a real shame that I forgot to record them. The experience was so wonderful, it makes me feel a lot happier than I thought I could be.

Gotta finish that damn essay by 4pm tomorrow…

Blue Shell – Running

Time is running out. I am running along.

The presentation preparation is running quite smoothly, apart from the fact that we are not going to make a PowerPoint slide. Well, this thing is not really serious, so I suppose I do not need to put a lot of effort into it.

I finally made the decision to switch to Genetics. I like it. I love the fact that I will be touching the fundamental material of life. This will be a very challenging subject and I know it. However, I think I like the challenge. Hopefully, when I look back ten years later, I won’t regret the decision I make today.

Life goes on. So does everything. Yesterday was father’s birthday. I called him to say “Happy Birthday”, and apparently nobody apart from me remembered it – including himself. Although I think it is fair, because my family tend to celebrate birthdays according to lunar calendar. He chocked with tears anyway, and made me a little bit embarrassed. Hell, I wonder if my son will remember my birthday…

A little bit more than a week later, I will be heading back home. Home, what a sweet word! I miss it tremendously. The air, hot with smell of dust, brilliant under the summer sunshine. Harbin, my home. However far away I am from you, I will always love my hometown.
